8/21/08 was one of the saddest days ever here. We lost Winnie. Here's what I wrote, amidst lots of tears, when posting this in 8/08 at 2AM after saying goodbye to her one last time.
8/21/08 - We'll Miss You, Winnie
Today was one of the saddest days ever. My wife & I lost Winnie, one of the dearest creatures ever to walk the face of the earth. Nearly 12 years was no where near long enough, Winnie. You will be greatly missed.
Winnie's heart betrayed her at the end, but to us she was all heart from the day she entered our lives as a 10-week old puppy. She gave us her heart & unconditional love without measure. A better friend never lived.
At puppy school she was named Miss Charm & Personality. Who is going to put us to bed at night and stand at the bed room door watching us with that sweet face until we're all tucked in and the lights are out. Just as we said every night - one last time - Good Night, Winnie.
