Month #43 - Retrospective of Daily Photos posted from 5/04 to 12/09 (most viewers for the month)

November 2007 - Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park. Since I began as a park volunteer photographer 4-5 years ago, this is one of my favorite spots along Skyline Drive - it says "this is the Drive". Here is what I wrote when posting this in 11/07 (complete with the lyrics of Autumn Leaves) -

11/17/07 - .....When Autumn Leaves Start to Fall
One of my favorite spots along Skyline Drive. Near the 8 mile post, a stretch my wife calls the Black Forest because of the large number of tall straight black trunks without the understory and more scraggly trees prevalent in much of Shenandoah National Park. Usually a good spot for photos that are representative of what Skyline Drive is all about.
The lyrics of the song, Autumn Leaves, refer to leaves of red and gold. Shenandoah has a few reds but not many as you can see here. Less than 1 tree in a hundred I'd guess. This is not maple country.
The falling leaves drift by my window
The falling leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sunburned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all, my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall
