Georgia on My Mind - A Floral Art Exhibit (PWC Regional Library - Sept 4-30 2007)
These are the sixteen images for this exhibit. They are shown as they will be hung - 4 across, 2 high. The first two rows will hang on one wall as shown; the 3rd & 4th rows will hang on the facing lobby wall as shown. 16x20 plain black metal frames; white mats. There will be no titles; I don't want to influence a viewer's thoughts by what I thought. There will be a "side-card" beside each image with the image's number (1-16), and 4 lines of data - time & conditions; equipment; technique, comment on result.
I've left out many floral favorites because they were either too literal for this more "non-representational" approach, or were too similar to another selection in some way - and not to forget the blue iris abstract that's out because its "blueness" clashed. If I broadened the theme beyond flowers to "My 16 Overall Favorites" at most only 1 or 2 floral images would be included. Or - I could have focused on award winners and the selection would have been easier (only 1 of these 16 has been in a show or competition). However, I wanted to stimulate some thought, not just "Wow", and show the viewer flowers in a way not usually seen. Hopefully, Georgia would approve.
The 17th & final image in this gallery is a copy of the descriptive flyer that is posted with the exhibit.
Ed, I was reading about these on your daily blog and had to get a closer look. I'm assuming you were using a macro lens--right? These are absolutely gorgeous! I was also wondering if you teach any workshops--I have learned so much from your daily postings and was thinking perhaps my camera club might like to host you. We're just a couple of hours away from you. I'll look forward to your response
