Old Rivals

In this representation of the yin-yang, the gray wolf represents yin, while the cougar represents the yang. Both could be placed as either yin or yang as they have qualities of both. Gray wolves are found further north than cougars, while cougars occur further south all the way through South America, though the North American cougar (a subspecies) does not occur that far south. Both can be aggressive and loving. Wolves have been associated with the moon, while cougars have been associated with the sky.
