Hi Chris... I have very big respect for your work ever since I discovered your galleries on Webshots and Pbase (which I have only discovered recently, too dumb to read the link on your photos). I admit having downloaded some of Mei's photos. Her name perfectly suits her... she is mei, more than that. I like to browse galleries on Webshots or Fotki but Mei is my favourite and you as a photographer have the talent to bring out your partner's beauty. She is so natural, I like her poses, her expressions... I appreciate that you share Mei with us - more or less anyonymous people from all over the world... I don't take that for granted. It's quite a big deal, sharing those moments with us... A BIG "THANK YOU" TO YOU AND MEI from an admirer from Switzerland.

To the anonymous person, I have just a few comments... Sometimes for me, creativity takes a break. Sometimes it takes a long break. But I am not going to abandon my camera during that time. I'll keep taking pictures and posting them because some may appreciate them. Mei is my partner and my model. I believe a difficult challenge is to make a familiar subject seem unfamiliar on a regular basis. I try to do that but do not always succeed. I don't do it as well as Wanda and Bill here at pbase do but I don't have their experience or time (they are both retired and I work full time with long commute). I don't know if you are into photography yourself but I'll tell you that it's a lot of work to create good images. I have many ideas that I don't have the resources or time to make happen. Anyway, our #1 goal is to have fun and share with others. And lastly, I make no attempt to reveal Mei's heart and soul here. I am very aware that one could look at all of the photos I have of her and not have any idea what her personality is like, what she believes in, etc. That isn't the point. Photos can capture a mood at a point in time, whether real or acted, but they can't capture the essence of a person.

Chris, you do have a few nice shots and I agree that ages are irrelevant. Yet it's obvious to me that you're running out of photo ideas - you can shoot this forever without going anywhere. By now I'm quite familiar with the face of this woman but got no idea about her heart and soul.

You did great jobs with vivian color, brilliant lighting, and unforgetable pretty..... Plus you have a wonderful model. She is so pretty and better than professional. It must be not easy for her to have so many creative poses. Thanks for sharing with your colorful galleries. Hope to see more in near future. Can you tell me what kind of lens and camara body you used? What metering systems do you like for portrait and landscape? Did you use any light control system when taking portraits? How did you get the multi-exposure one, "back to school"? Did you try film phorography? If yes, which way do you prefer to, film or digital? Thanks a lot.

Mark, Thanks for the compliments! Mostly I use a program called Focus Magic for sharpening and I'm getting pretty good at determining the correct white balance for each photo. I took a little time to look through your photos. I like the ones you took in Las Vegas. I will look at them more as I get the time. -Chris

Eclecticphoto, Incredible galleries, very crisp and balanced throughout. What sharpening technique(s) are you using? I can't get over the definition and precise color you generate in each image. ....and of course, Mei is a simply beautiful model. Enjoy and also enjoy the MKII. I have the same model after breaking in a G2, D60 and 10D. Keep up the great work. Obviously you've been added to the favorites column. Mark

I feel the same that it's hard to make photos look consistent and just be the way you want to them to be. About sharpening, just on my 17" monitor, some of large files look too sharp for me.

King, do you mean the ones I just added? I reprocessed some of them to be 800 pixels wide. Are you talking about those or the ones from before? I have my 19" monitor set at 1600 x 1200 resolution. Maybe I should lower it so I can see what everyone else is seeing. :)

In my opinion, your photos have been sharpen a little bit too much.

Macy, thanks for your comments. What size are you looking at? Anything other than original has been resized by pbase which lowers the quality. They are sized for higher resolution monitors at 1600 x 1064. Also, the photos will not look the best on a LCD monitor since I use a CRT when processing. Please let me know how it looks at the original size. If everyone else comes away with the same opinion I might need to reduce the size of the photos.

i think you have great ideas of taking portrait! nice angle, nice mood! nice expressions! but is there something wrong with your camera?? the quality of the photos are not good enough since they are not so sharp and clear~~ >.<
