We had NO wind today. The race got under way later in the afternoon with only a slight and intermitent breeze.I kept thinking about the "Ascot Gavotte Lyrics from "My Fair Lady" -- with a little editing done to the lyrics.
What a gripping, absolutely ripping moment at the yachting op'ning day.
Pulses rushing! Faces flushing! Heartbeats speed up! I have never been so keyed up!
Any second now they'll begin to sail. Hark! Kerry's whistle's blowing. They are springing forward.
Look! It has begun...!
What a frenzied moment that was! Didn't they maintain an exhausting pace?
'Twas a thrilling, absolutely chilling running of the sailors' op'ning race.
Very nice work, Elizabeth. Too bad we couldn't get the wind to cooperate. Hope to see you out more often.

Elizabeth:
Your poetry and pictures really captured the moments in this year's first regatta at the Wichita Falls Sailing Club. Light airs challenged the sailors' patience as they waited for a freshet to fill their main and jib. Glenn Tole captured the first place prize in each race. But the Bonner and Baker boats were in a battle royale around each mark. Matt Baker eked out second place by a thin margain after the handicap was figured. Yours truly, Kerry Roach
