English Heritage Festival of History 2010

Over the weekend of 17-18 July this wonderful event set in the heart of the English countryside, at Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire, told the story of 2000 years of British history. Not only were there plenty of dramatic and historical re-enactments throughout the ages but there were lots of 'living camps', where you could get up close and see tools and weapons being made, food being prepared, how people lived in centuries gone by. What is wonderful about an event like this is meeting and speaking with these re-enactors. Every man and woman to a person is so passionate about the history of the era they are portraying and, though I am sure they are asked the same questions by the crowds, they always seem happy to chat and pass on historical titbits.
