John, I want to thank you for a very welcoming experience at PBase. You were one of the first to comment (and meaningfully, at that) on my galleries and I appreciate that very much. The sense of community here at PBase is almost as inspiring as being being the lens. :-) I also enjoyed the variety and caliber of your galleries... from tractor pulls to Egypt. I thinkhttp://www.pbase.com/earthling/image/43411078 is my favorite. Great accomplishments...

Hi John: Thanks for visiting my galleries and leaving comments. I appreciated all your comments. As I looked at the Milk Pod one and evaluated it by your critique I would agree with what you said. I am in accord with your sentiments about PBase. I too have so much to learn! Viewing others hard work and creativity sure does keep one inspired! Even if I didn't use a camera myself I would delight in the work I see here. I will revisit your galleries often and keep up the good work!

John! Thanks for your comments, I'm new to Pbase, so it's very nice that I get some response on my work. I looked at your Lefkas pics, since I've been there some years ago. Nice galleries you have, keep on the good work.

John, thanks for your nice comments! Re. the dragonfly: I noticed how they regularily hovered over some water, roughly at the same spots, so I sat down, pre-focused at the approximate distance and waited. When they stopped near me I tried to get a quick snapshot off after touching up the focus. They only stopped very briefly so I had to try quite a few times. I handheld the camera and lens so it was a bit hard on the arms and shoulders after a while.

Good composition and ideas. Love how you present the themes but what I lke most is the relationship between humans and architecture, the space, scale, light and life you add to the images doing so. I took a valuable note. Thanks.

John, I've taken a liberal trip through your demesne - and I must say I am impressed. I'll be coming here again - especially after my exams are done. Great eye for composition in many of photos - and I like your use of hues, rather than primary colours. Many of the India galleries I've seen are chock-full of bright obtrusive colours - whereas, I feel, that using gentle hues and b&w is a much more effective way to convey the story and the feel of the moment. Humanity and being reside in subtlety - and universal truth is unknowable - just as green is never green, but a hue of green. Thank you!

Hi John,

Thanks for your comments in my galleries. You provided the inspiration to finally figure out the style sheet thing and fix the dimmed thumbnails! Take care and happy shooting, Della

John,
I agree with you at 90% about the tourists but i think what if people love to understand truly a city can buy postcards and walk in some not famous area. Venezia is very small compare with other cities. I see tourists what pay absurd prices for a pizza in the center of town and don't have the curiosity to walk out the classical paths. I live in an area what have a lot astounding churches, house and restaurants with a just prices for a very good food but the people walk only in San Marco Square ... for me is sad because most of tourists can't capture the soul of city.

John - thanks for the vote of confidence. I ventured through your galleries as well, might even have voted. ;)

Hi John
I looked through your gallery and liked them alot.

Thanks for leaving a comment on my site. you have been shortlisted for a possible book entry except who is this "HE" you made reference to? And what states could I be arressted for telling people there used to be street light in biblical times. The truth needs to be put out there. Hell if the mormons can convince people John Smith was a profit I can definatly tell people out the "lights"

Hi John,

Thank-you for your words of encouragement! I really love your 'for arts sake' gallery. Compositional skills are definitely my weak point and I find pictures such as yours help me look differently at normal objects!

Ian.

John, thank you for visiting my architectural gallery, and for your kind comments.
Your "sundry" gallery caught my eye - the shadow, trees and floral - please add more photos! And it was a nice surprise to see an art deco Miami building on your pages as well : )
