Mississippi Beaches

Gulfport - Biloxi, Mississippi

"Sea Oats"

The endangered plant, sea oats (Uniola paniculata),
is primarily responsible for the stability of the beaches and dunes,
especially on barrier islands. Without sea oats, the barrier islands
would soon be destroyed by the ocean. Sea oats exhibit beauty of
form and function characteristic of nature.

The beaches are beautiful as we rode along the seashore. There were very few people, swimming or sunbathing. The oil spill has really hurt the tourism and economy there...

It looks clear and clean here! Most beach ecologies are so fragile ......

Nice colorful photo. It's hurt the tourism there and the seafood industry in Louisiana! Unfortunate

Ohhhhhh, I want to be there. Love the green-gold of the sea oats and the color of the sand and water.
