My Wife Silke organised a
trip away for a few days to the beautiful town of Göerlitz.  The town lies
in the former East and borders with Poland.  We had a  very relaxing trip, learning much about the town's very interesting
history, including life after the fall of the wall. 

My fotos show two very
different faces of the town, one is bright and colourful and the other drab and
lifeless.  The later is due to high unemployment and the fact that since
the wall came down many people have left the former East to find work in the
West or have  emigrated.   The bright and colourful  side is
a result of extensive  rebuilding by the government costing over €1.5 trillion  
and those who have stayed and built a new life and are making the most of the
change.
