Silke and I had a very enjoyable and interesting 4
days in Dessau, which is in the former East Germany.  The highlight of the trip
was our tour round the Bauhaus Building, constructed to the plans of Walter
Gropius in 1925/26. It was constructed from glass, steel and concrete so that
each object could be flawlessly integrated. The building became the high School
for design and is well worth a visit if you decide to tour the Dessau area, for

Other fotos show the Masters Houses
1925-26 built for the School Director and three Masters. Kornhaus Restaurant a
round building built in 1929/30, which lies on the bank of the river Elbe and
serve delicious food. The Steel House 1926/7 which was constructed from
prefabricate sheets of steel and the Törten Estate 1926/28 which was affordable
housing built after a law was passed to allow people to own instead of renting
houses.

Even if architecture is of no real interest to you
I think will be amazed by these building built by designers who were way ahead
of their time. If I had been asked to date the buildings I would have said
