Found a snake dead in a flower bed an about 4 foot orange, black and white sort of squares. It looked to be about as fat as a large cucumber. Wondering what kind and what could have killed it.

We live in Coconut Creek Fl. way south Florida, yesterday was suprised to see a really bright yellow and green, about three feet long snake, could it be a yellow rat snake? I haven't let my boxer out since, looking at your pictures was helpful but this snake seemed a much brighter yellow, or maybe it was just me that was yellow...

I have what I think is the smallest snake--have 2 of them---biggest one is about 2" long, black with a redish band on head---about 1/16 th of a inch in dia. the other is smaller rededish--light red head and is about 1 1/2 long and reaal thin., found them in a dirt pile on my screen porch. I have them in a container , did not touch them as they are to small, does anyone want them? Ray--- In Panama city beach , florida.

Need to identify. Glossy black snake with only a hint of horizontal bands on the front 1/3, back 2/3 of snake was glossy black. Could not see its head. Could not see any different color towards the belly. Was on the edge of a retention pond and "slithered" off into the water upon detection. Reminded me of a beautiful Black Racer but am confused regarding the bands.

I have a fairly short but fat snake in my back yard by the air conditioner. It's black on top with yellow belly with the yellow going up from belly to form a striped pattern. I live in Central Florida. Do you have any idea what snake it could be?

Had a snake in my drive way, it was black and looked like it had white checkerboard on the belly, the ones you show have orange or pink colors. Please tell me it's not a cotton mouth! It was dark with light on.

I just saw a 5 to 6 ft snake, black at the head through about half the body then gets lighter throught he rest of the body, white to a very light gray at the tail. central florida location. Any one have a guess as to what type it may be?

I just saw a snake in my side yard and from looking at pics on your site I think it was a striped crayfish snake but it miht have been a yellow rat snake.

Live in Jacksonville and was picking up rocks and found what I think is a yellow rat snake,scared the heck out of me. Finished the rock garden and then placed him back in it.

I had a large snake in my backyard by my little fountain pond and from looking at the pictures I believe it was a yellow rat snake. Probably about 4 feet long, brown color with 2 black lines straight down its back.

Live in suburban area on an acre. See large snakes and their offspring occas. but can't find any that have young this size. Any idea what would be so small? I think that 's an Asian import called a "flower pot snake" among other things. And believe it or not, that's about as big as they get. God love 'em, they eat termites.

I found a small snake this morning at my door. I t was what looked like white or light tan with reddish diamonds on it. I have seen this before but can never find anything like it.

I have a snake in my back yard which is unlike any I have seen it is smooth and colorful with a round head, I cut a piece of his tail once and the tip turn hard I have a 5 year old and this snake makes me nevous but I can not seem to get ride of it even with moth balls. Is this venomous?

found what i believe is a Ring neck snake in our guest pool, white underbelly, white ring around the neck but the rest of the upped body color is brown/black, what is this snake , it's about three inches to four inches in length and very skinny.

This morning my husband found a small snake swimming in our pool. Its was about 8 inches long, thin with circules around it, brown and rusty colored. We live in a new home development with new construction. Do you think it was venimous and do you think there is a momma around some place?

The coloring was a dark brown body with a thin yellow stripe around the body and the lower portion with a red triangle repeated by the yellow stripe and triangle.The body diameter was approximately one and one half inches. Location is in Jacksonville, Florida's eastern side not far from inter-coastal water ways. I am curious about this snake since I have never seen one like this in this area. The head seemed to be triangular but I was being extra cautious with an unknown snake to really been cool enough to observe.

I live north of Tampa and have had run ins with water moccasins and pygmy rattlers. This morning Icame upon a very long, smooth, small scaled thin snake. I had to look twice because I thought it was a hose. Very pale fleshy (light pink color) with very pencil thin stripes, maybe four that ran lenghthwise down it's body. I started to spray it with the hose it turned and retreated through the fence. What scared me was the shape of it's head. It was definately triangular. I've read that's not always indicative of whether or not a snake is poisonous but I need to know what it is. Nothing I google comes up with anything like it. The stripes are pencel thin and only about four evenly spaced. I could only see two stripes

We found a snake on our lanai last night that we can't identify through your website. It looks almost exactly like the Southern Hognose with the exception of the shape of the head. This snake's head is narrower than that pictured for the hognose. We are in Northern Charlotte county. Any ideas? Thank you.

I, too, have found a red and orange snake in my yard. About 3 ft long, I hope it is a rat snake and not a canebreak rattler. Frightened me!

Was at JAX Beach Pier this week and a red/orange snake came from under pier crossed sand and continued into grass. Quite long over 3 feet. Was suprised to see snake in this area. Any ideas? Thanks

my family has report seeing a few long black snakes around our house in Brandon FL which borders a larger farm. Now my wife and older daughter are very scared and basically freak out when they see a snake. The snakes that I have personally seen are all black with narrow pointed heads and between 3-4 ft, but my wife said one came in the house and it was 9-10 ft long, it was probably attracted to our bird which also went crazy. she was able to shoo it out the front door. these snakes don't seem to be aggressive, they are mostly interested in getting away, today one went between my legs and never tried to bite me. please confirm if you think these could be the Eastern Indigo snake whose picture in your web site is the only snake what looks like our snakes. also please confirm the non-venomous snakes have narrow heads and venomous snakes have triangle shaped, fat heads. Thank you I want to keep the good snakes but I have to protect my children also.

I found a small light tan colored snake with a black head about 10 inches long. never seen anything like it. when i picked it up it flattened out trying to make it self look bigger. i think it might have been a coachwhip but im not sure. what do think it could have been?

What great photography. I live adjacent to a canal in Pinellas Park. I have seen four of those snakes that live in the ground. Saw them when we had concrete work done. Yesterday I saw a thin long (about one foot) light brown snake with long stripes from head to toe. It went under my house. I now think it may be harmless but am not certain?? Hope I can send you a picture next encounter.

I have a 4 foot snake take up residence in my front yard planter. It is very, very dark chocolate brown with light blue cheek bones. I dont see anyting like it in your pictures. Do know what it is? Would you like to come get it?

One day I was walking along the beach in SW Florida in Naples on the Gulf of Mexico and I ended the walk at a pile of rocks. I saw a small black snake. The snake stuck its tongue out being camaflouged. There are plenty of chameleons in the pile of rocks area and I figure the black snake preys on the chameleons. I checked out your website. There are three possibilities: Eastern Indigo, Southern Ringneck, and Southern Black Racer. Which one do you think it is? Thank You. Chris Rendziperis
