I do not like any little snakes when my son James was 2 he was playing with a stroller and had put a snake into it. The snake kept getting out the boy kept putting him back. the snake bit him he came over where I was working. he told me the snake had bit him. His hand had started to blacken. By the time I got him to the hospital it was black to his elbo.He was released after 3 days.

We had one in our pool this week after a lot of rain, and it swam like a champ.

I just found a small black snake with small, distinct orange stripes...in some rain water/mud/leaves. I was about to kill it and realized it didn't have the poisonous-shape head....and it got away into my garden jungle . I'm still not really sure what it was, but this is similar, tho I think its' orange stripes were more narrow. I'm in Lafayette County, btw!

These snakes also like to lay around in mulch beds

I saw this snake on the side of the road in New Orleans, la. Someone ran over it. I took a pic. How can I share pic with others? Never knew this type was found in New Orleans.

We have a young black and red snake with colors similar to the mud snake. Found in Destin' Florida. But its colors seem to be truer, darker than the one shown. And more defined lines. Idont see others like it.
