PHOTO 8

1978 R100/7 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

NOTE:
READ PROCEDURE FOR PHOTO 9

REMOVE THESE TWO SCREWS. USE NEEDLE-NOSE PLIERS AND CAREFULLY PULL SPEEDO NEEDLE UP AND OFF. REMOVE SPEEDO PLATE.
NOTE:
NOTICE THE GREASY PAW PRINTS ON THE FLAT BLACK PAINT? IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO USE DISPOSABLE RUBBER GLOVES.
IF NEED BE, USE A SOFT BRUSH AND RUBBING ALCOHOL TO CLEAN OIL OFF FACE OF SPEEDO. TRY DISTILLED WATER TOO. PAT DRY. RINSE, REPEAT...

Just posted on this then remembered I found and even better method to nots the position of the needle by removing the screws turning the dial anti-clockwise a full 360° turn so that the screws can be put back with the needle now on the wrong side of its stop. Record this position which will be close to the little mark seen before the 10mph mark (between 10mph and W Germany) and put back in reverse.
Good luck

Photos 8 & 9. Having removed the two little screws holding the dial you can rotate the dial anti-clockwise with the needle in position until the needle just clears its stop on the dial. Note that position and put needle back in the same way in reverse.
