Yoshi Fujii is an artist working primarily in porcelain. He is gallery director as well as an artist and instructor at Baltimore Clay Works.
His work involves intricate carving of the surface to create geometric or artistic designs. Fired with a transparent glaze like a celadon, deeper recesses darken to emphasize the three-dimensional texture.
Yoshi did a great job taking us through the steps of his process. He is very animated and engaged the enthusiastic audience very well. Many of those who attended will definitely be trying their hand at some of these methods in the coming weeks.
Midday provided a fine example of the amazing pot luck lunches these events are noted for!
