Sorrento lies south along the western coast of Italy, almost diametrically across the Bay of Naples from Napoli. The old town is Greek in origin and goes back before the fifth century BCE. You can walk on 2500 year old roads.

Today Sorrento is basically a tourist town; there is almost a hotel room for every citizen. In spite of that, it's a beautiful spot with more of a small town feel than Rome, etc. There are many little shops, and lots of good restaurants, bars, and pizzerias.
