Rebecca Chappell is currently at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia. She does pieces
with a functional quality, but extends the designs to all sorts of semi-sculptural
pieces. Her designs may be inspired by things she sees outside her window or
studies of the histories of table settings, even the coded meanings behind
various flower species used in Victorian times play a role in her artistic vision.

This demonstration was a sampling of of some of Rebecca's working techniques.
While her early work was wheel thrown, she has more recently become intrigued
by handbuilding and now finds ways to combine both methods. She generally
works in a low fired red clay which she describes as smooth and very forgiving.
