This Chester County town, at the confluence of French Creek and the Schuylkill River, was once home to a major industrial enterprise, the Phoenix Iron Company. The former industrial site, after languishing as a brownfield mess for many years, is being revitalized as a heritage site. A fantastic masonry structure, once a foundry, is now a special event space, The Foundry, as well as a museum and visitor center, the Schuylkill River Heritage Center at Phoenixville.
Some of these shots were taken in conjunction with Ye Olde Photographer's Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day 2009 efforts, which may be seen on his WPPD 2009 Gallery.
On a sunny July day, we returned to see the heritage center and wander some of the nearby town, crossing the Schuylkill River to Mont Clare and the park surrounding Lock #60 of the former Schuylkill Canal.
