In May 2018 Ye Olde Photographer and his Faire Spouse stopped here overnight on a trek, mostly on US 50, from Skyland in Shenandoah National Park. Our ultimate destination was Crawfordsville Indiana. We stayed in the historic Blennerhassett Hotel which is an impressive late 1800s building that has been rehabbed relatively recently. The hotel is across from the Wood County Courthouse in the downtown area and originated as an upscale place for the barons of lumber, coal, oil and gas to stay. We had an excellent dinner at Spats restaurant which offers dining inside and outside the hotel.
