This New York State Park is a huge area along the gorge of the Genesee River, "Grand Canyon of the East." It is named for William Pryor Letchworth, a successful entrepeneur in the 19th century who acquired the land and eventually donated it for beginnings of the park. His summer retreat on the site is now the Glen Iris Inn, offering rooms and a restaurant. There are numerous trails in the park, some fairly strenuous as there is a lot of stair climbing to negotiate steep elevation changes. Like many such areas, during the middle or so of the 1800s, the area was logged on an industrial scale, but after Letchworth bought the property, he began restoration of the forest. It is now thousands of acres of beautiful woods.
