Inverting the piece on a slightly moistened plastic (or other non-porous) bat allows it to stick without the usual
balls of clay pressed around the rim. When using a relatively broad trimming tool, Kristen uses only a corner
to cut a series of steps roughing out the shape. This cuts more easily and the trimmed sliver clears better.
