Here and there around the country one finds fiber festivals. The exact format may vary widely, but generally they feature the growing and processing of fiber, both vegetable (flax/linen) and animal (wool from sheep, rabbits, llamas, alpacas). The demonstrations usually carry on into spinning or felting. Some may offer demonstrations or workshops on designing or making clothing.
Some festivals may have contests and awards. Many have vendors selling products made from fibers, often very creative and artistic handmade items. Some may offer demonstrations, workshops or discussions. The largest shows may have exhibits of equipment used to perform some of these operations on a larger scale. There may be vendors offering looms, spinning wheels and other "tools."
