A short drive north of our last "base camp" in Stone Ridge is this reservoir, part of the water supply for New York City and representative of many such bodies of aqua pura in the southeastern corner of New York State. The roadway across the dam had movable vertical columns to barricade normal vehicular traffic, but hikers and bicyclists are welcome. This early evening walk was probably about two miles round trip.
