Held at Montgomery County Community College, 28 November 2007.
Alleghany Meadows has a website that details some of his activities as a studio potter and gallery owner. He hails from the Aspen, Colorado, area and is interested in exploring the nuances of form as he creates utilitarian pieces of great beauty and exquisite craftsmanship.
The first frames show a selection of his finished work. A quick set-up in the students' ceramic studio, the quality of the pieces is evident even though the less than optimum display and photography is hardly flattering.
Much of the work is done in porcelain, although "Loafer's Glory," (Highwater) a smooth white stoneware clay was used for this demo.
Immediately after the astounding pot luck lunch, we viewed slides of Alleghany's work and a few shots of influential experiences in his life. Included were some shots of potters and potteries in Japan and Nepal, places where he spent time studying and working as an apprentice.
