| Judy and I started our day with a buffet breakfast at the beautiful Storyteller's Café in the Grand Californian. The food was great (we especially liked the Mickey Mouse waffles) and numerous cartoon characters paraded through the restaurant, several stopping at our table to give Judy (but not me) a hug and mug for a photo. We then fetched Mike and Ellen and proceeded to Disneyland. We enjoyed a walk down Main Street, which as far as we're concerned might have been named Memory Lane. One of our favorite rides was the horse-drawn wagon down Main Street from the park entrance to the entrance to Fantasyland. Our "one-horsepower motor" was a beautiful former show Clydesdale name Eddie (how apropos). We then were jostled around in the rather helter-skelter Indiana Jones ride, strolled in New Orleans Square and took a relaxing and sentimental ride on the paddle wheeler Mark Twain Riverboat. An al fresco lunch at the Café Orleans was a perfect break. We then rode the classic Disneyland Railroad around the park to Tomorrowland. There, Mike drove me around Autopia, which when built was an ironically prophetic glimpse of the automobile-choked reality of today's Southern California. We watched Honda's Asimo robot literally run through his amazing paces. Mike talked me into riding Space Mountain with him; the photo of his terrified expression near the end of the ride is evidence of his just reward. We were treated to a fabulously colorful and energetic Disneyland parade. We ended our Disney day with dinner at Naples Pizzeria in Downtown Disney, dropped off Mike and Ellen at their hotel and crawled back to our room and into bed. |
