The bigger the focal length range, the harder it is to maintain the quality. In fairness to Sigma, 150 to 500 is a pretty big ask. I've noticed that you've stopped showing the exif data on your shots, so I don't know anything about the settings for this one. However I take your point; life's too short to shoot with bad glass, to paraphrase the old expression.
