Father, forgive me for I have sinned. It was too hard to not go there. Fish Sticks!

On Friday ‘s in Lent as all good non practicing Catholics do, we go to the local Fish Fry. Fish, beer, greasy french fries, coleslaw and homemade baked goods in the school gym are great. I still get all excited drinking beer in a school, let alone in sight of the Parish priests. Feels like I am getting one over during elementary school even though I paid 2 bucks a beer to the general church fund for a luke warm Miller Light. Taste great, no guilt….. Ahhhhhhhhhh Lent!


So, back to my guiltiness. I was told a few years ago by my very loving wife (and understanding to a point) to NOT let Sarah watch South Park with me. It’s not a good show for two evil comedic geniuses to watch, let alone- together. Fast forward a few hundred episodes and secret nights of watching this while Mom is out or sleeping. Our all time favorite episode is one called “fish sticks”. I am cracking up typing this as I keep muttering fish sticks over and over in my head. Say fish sticks, and soon you come to realize fish sticks soon morphs into fish dicks. I am 43 years old and laugh like a 9 year old farting in class. Add in Sarah encouraging me and it gets even crazier as we keep asking one another if they like Fish Sticks? Which turns into hysterical laughing that just takes us into typical South Park humor that is banned by my wife. It makes it even more fun getting one over on the establishment.

Father Tom happened to walk by me as I was chowing down on some deep fried Lake Erie perch for this Fridays get together and I looked at Sarah and winked. Causing mischief I asked Father if he like Fish Sticks or fresh perch better? We got into a whole long talk of how growing up he ate tons of Fish Sticks and that today he can’t even look at them since his Mom made him eat so many. Needless to say, Sarah and I are trying not to fall out of our chairs laughing from this inside joke we are in on. Father, forgive me….
