On October 14th & 15th, The Las Vegas R/C Club held the First Annual Mark McAlpine Memorial Scale heli contest. Mark passed away in August 2005 from the cancer he had bravely battled for many years. While battling the disease, Mark continued to build and fly his scale models. The LVRC club renamed the Southern Nevada Scale Rotory Classic to the Mark McAlpine Memorial to allow Mark's friends to gather together and celebrate his life.
