It was a quick flight from Carcass to Saunders but then a longish wait before departing for the Neck with provisions to last 4 days. Accommodation is in 2 dorms of 4 bunkbeds with a kitchen/lounge area separating them. The advantage of staying here is that you overlook the Gentoo colonies. It's about a mile to get to the Albatross colonies but it is about the same distance from the Rookery. The Rookery has a "camping" hut but I stayed in the new house which was very pleasant. A regular task there was the starting up of the generator to provide enough power for the day. The Rookery was convenient for the shower that the Rockhopper Penguins use. There were also nice litchens and fauna on the route.
The weather remained very windy throughout my stay and with alternating cloudy and sunny comnditions. Most mornings were dull but there were a couple of nice evenings which made for long hours of photography
