Most birds photographers wish to have the largest possible focal length lenses, in order to be able to capture every detail of the bird. Hence 400mm, 500mm, and even 800mm lenses are being used, many times with a teleconverter attached.
But birds are not isolated from their natural habitat, but rather a part of a much bigger picture, in which every element is important. Many times the birds' background, not the birds, is more important and appealing to us as photographers and viewers of nature.
This gallery is about the beauty that surrounds birds. Many times the birds play a secondary role in the frame. The pictures in this gallery were shot in Northern Israel, Bulgaria, Namibia, Tanzania and Bosque del Apache.
