The New Butterfly Identification Chart At The Detroit Zoo

The New Butterfly Identification Chart At The Detroit Zoo

The new Butterfly Garden Identification Guide at the Detroit Zoo has now been printed and is available for visitors to the Garden. The new
guide contains 84 of the photographs posted in this gallery. It is based on photographic work from September, 2006 to
January, 2007. As far as I know the new guide is not available for purchase.

Ms. Laura Palombi, Associate Director of Invertebrates, was instrumental in providing identification of the butterflies in this chart and in
making decisions about its organization. The previous chart contained only silhouettes of various butterflies. The new chart
should be of great assistance to visitors by providing actual photographs of many butterflies in the Garden as well as
extremely useful text provided by Ms. Palombi concerning their behavior.

Thanks to everyone on Pbase for their support during the work on this chart.
