Very nice bird shots with your Sigma 500, good show. Am considering that lens to take shots in my Provence large garden but will first test the Nikon 300mm with the Kenko Pro TC 1.4 on order in Hong Kong before buying. The Nikon 500mm is twice the price in France, around 9000 euros ($13 000) which is a mad price for an amateur.

Hi ya Drip :-) Im interested in how are you finding the 1600 ISO performance of the D2X? how does it compare to the 20D?

Thanks for all your great lens testing over the years dude.

If you don't want to tape pins, the Tamron-F would be the only choice.
For best results, a Canon 2X II with pins taped would be my choice. You can also try Canon 1.4X (with pins taped) and stack it with a Kenko pro 1.4X (pins taped) if you want 2X.

Have enjoyed your photos and comments on DPReview and here. Have a DRebel and am getting a Canon 400 5.6L and want to use a 1.4x and a 2.0x with it. Have seen some wonderful results with this combo. Any suggestions of which tc's to get and still retain autofocus (this rules out the Canon tc's I believe)? Have seen some really good stuff from the Tamron- Many thanks,
Rod Kampf

Great photo!
But please dont ruin them by adding your signature right at the middle of your great jobs!

Great shots - I realize your need to protect your photos, but the copyright thing really sucks - definately takes away from the visual image, and isn't that what photography is all about?

The emotion a photo elicits or the reaction when viewing a photo. Quite frankly, I stopped looking after a few because of the copyright thing. Please take this in the correct context - just my opinion.

I was very sorry to hear of your misfortune with the gear in the car. I feel you pain.
Your pictures continue to inspire me. First I purchased a 50-500mm based on your work. Now I'm after the Canon 70-200mm F4L.
However, your pictures, in the rodeo gallery are so amazingly sharp. What are you doing in photohop?
I have not got close to your level yet, but I'm learning.

Thank you for visiting my galleries. Since I just moved from San Antonio to the Dallas/Richardson area, I can't answer your questions.
You don't mean there's no good birding/wildlife sites around here?

I just wanted to say your photos are looking real good. I leave in Fort Worth and as soon as my tax return gets back i am going to get my 10D. ive been shooting for 10 yrs and hate that i really have to drive 4 hrs in any direction to get a scenic spot!

Anyways are you involved in any clubs around here, im trying to find a photo organazation.

Nice Pictures you Got Brian.
Are you located in San Antonio, TX?
drip 04-Oct-2003 02:18
I'll try to do it in a better way but won't be in any of the corners, too easy to get cropped.
BTW, I'll send anybody the full size original picture upon request.

very nice. but do you really have your copy right so obnoxiously displayed in a lot of your pics.?
Why not just in the left or right corner? they do destroy a lot of your nice shots, or at least make them a lot less pleasant to look at.

Hi John:
I do take bad pictures sometimes but who would post them up? Learn from mistakes and keeper rate will increase. The down side is: I'm running out of space again (200Mb still not enough).
You have raised a good point that a cheap lens like the Tokina 24-200 can produce nice pictures like the pricy 70-200/2.8IS as long as you know how to use it. The 50-500 is my favorite lens due to its awesome shaprness and 500mm reach plus 50mm wide end. And it's cheap for a 500mm zoom.
You'll enjoy the 10D like I do. Spend your money wisely on lenses and make the most of them. Send me e-mail if you need advice.

I clicked on your 24-200 Tokina photos and had no idea that this lens would produce such beautiful photos and then I looked at the rest of your galleries. Don't you ever take a bad photo, I went from 50-500 to the 70-200IS and they are all the same simply beautiful.I am brand new with the 10D having owned it just 9 days and have only used it twice having had commitments and then bad weather but I love the it. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Pops

I am in need of advice. I have a $1,000 bugdet for lenes and am hoping to buy 2 Canon EF lenses. One for everyday use (24-70, 24-85, or 24-105?) and a telephoto lens (70-300?). I like the IS lenses from the user comments I've read. My main crtieria is that I don't want to buy lenses that I will be disapointed in as become a better photographer.

Your opinion is appreciated!

Jim

Hey Brian, Awesome pictures dude!

Hi Sarah: yeah, I just spent a fortune for a DSLR and lenses so putting the pictures up is the least I ought to do to justify it. I certainly will love to see your Hawaii pictures. What camera did you use? Don't let a bad camera spoil your moments. (That's the main reason I invest so much on a DSLR ... many of my Europe pictures did not turn out good.)

When (not if) our team advance to Final Four at New Orleans, I most likely will travel there and take tons of pictures. Will be better than those NBA pictures I took.

Hi Brian, Nice pictures. Looks like you're out and about and having a good time. My husband and I just came back from Hawaii where we spent 10 days it was wonderful. I'll send pics when they're on line. It's Spring in Tucson, the perfect time of year. Big Basketball time of year, of course everyone is hoping UA goes all the way in the NCAA. Let me know if you ever come this way on business or pleasure? We have a guest room and would love to see you! Sarah
