A special interest group which gives you the opportunity to try you hand at studio portraits. This group meets once a month.

As you can see, I'm still learning....

On my first session, I learn't that:

- introduce yourself to the models and state what type of shots you would like to get (felt a bit intimidated by this)
- Manual settings were the best to use in these circumstances
- Auto settings under studio flash just won't work, the camera will be surprised by the sudden brightness of the flash firing and you'll probably get white,
overexposed featureless photo's. Need to use the announced light readings.
- Light readings for tungsten lighting will usually assume ISO 400
- Light readings for flash lightening will usually assume ISO 100
- Portraits are usually shot with a 70mm or longer lens. A wide angel lens can be cool for wacky shots but for a conventional pose, it can distort your subject in undesirable ways.

Note: whilst I used my Sigma 105mm EX lens for these shots, I was recommended to go out and buy the EF 50mm 1.8 lens for the next session. Guess I better go shopping then....
