Hello there, I came by your photo gallery by mistake, but WHAT an exhilarating journey I've had through them! I especially love your shots of flowers - breathtaking!! Keep that camera clicking! Cheers, Manikya

Thank you, Tim, for such a thoughtful entry. I will definitely consider your suggestion. An excellent one based on an excellent model!

Thank you for your visit to my galleries and for your kind comments. For me, your galleries are especially unique in that throughout the galleries I get an enormous sense of the love and frustration that makes a family. Most of us "pbasers" take pictures of places and things or "portraits," but so many of your shots are "street photography" of a family. There was a very popular photography book when I was in college - long ago in the 60's - called The Family of Man. There was a universality in that book - I get a similar feel in The Family of Carolyn because of your ability to make the everyday transcendent. Perhaps a gallery that collects pictures like "Two Days in Hotel Room." and "March 31" as a photo essay on the joys and work of making a family might be something you would be interested it.

Y'know??? I look at your pictures and I just wish I had your talent!! What a great eye you have for putting the life you're living in pictures. That picture of your daughter under the bridge, for example. I always enjoy my tour here.

Carolyn, thank you for all your kind words regarding my photos. I peeked through your galleries as well, and enjoyed them very much. It seems we are both doing the learning curve thing with this digital SLR business... I have only ever owned point-and-shoot cameras, with the purpose of capturing memories. It seems that now I am leaning towards making art from my memories, and am totally engrossed in the concept. Doing the PAD thing has also been really good for me, though my partner still rolls his eyes when he sees me coming with the camera around my neck again. Anyway, it has been incredible, being able to share this journey with such wonderful, helpful, and talented people, including yourself! Thank you!

Hey, finally got a chance to log on to a computer that didn't block my leaving a guestbook entry.

I really like your galleries. After corresponding for over a year, it's great to get a glimps of your world -- especially your family. I also liked what you did with the lights in the "Universal City Walk, Los Angeles". Lots of good photos there. The "Natural Graffiti" gallery is pretty cool too. Keep it up. I'll be stopping by often.

No, no, you got it right on with the horror and the hopelessness of turning 40! But as you so properly noted in your e-mail to me, at least "we have law degrees!" What else can a person ask? Our lives are complete - we need for nothing. We simply turn to our walls in our darkest moments, see our alma mater certificate on the wall next to the Ninth Circuit admission and the most amazing veil of peace flows over us. Ahhh...

I'm so happy to see you here! I'm looking forward to looking at your very-excellent photos in your own gallery...although I suspect you'll need a trip to my computer-geek-haven so I can show you the ropes. BUT...you hit the first step: getting them on the computer.

Hugs to you my dear friend.

Your children are absolutely adorable, as I knew they would be. But, I was so unbelievably moved by your "turning 40" self-portrait pictures. You captured the horror, the hopelessness, the fear, the "what's the point?" Just kidding. You still look sexy. The ironic thing is that I just received a very expensive Olympus digital camera (maybe a $100 bucks!) for Christmas. I can't even figure out how to edit pictures or save them or create albums, and this is after many, many hours at the computer. So, as I perused your very professional galleries, I must admit, although the pictures were very, very engaging, I had some nasty thoughts about you. But, I will say I at least learned to get the pictures out of the camera and into the computer. Therefore, I am going to send you some of mine. I always knew you were an artistic soul. That's why we hated law school. Can you imagine what the next person who signs your guestbook is going be thinking about my little diatribe here? Try coming up on 50!!!
