By this stage of its growth a week later, also note that its growing-habit is effectively "ground cover" here: its arching growth and early large leaf area block out light from surrounding plants, to outcompete and kill them.
Of course, as part of this process the number of insects feeding on the surrunding native vegetation are reduced...and on such a foundation are attendant entire ecosystems built, or made to fall.
