Fish or no fish?

The left image was cropped from a fisheye shot with the 8mm Peleng. The right is the same image after being 'defished' in software (PTLens). Compare the window frame at the right and the shape of the child's head. Both wide angle views have 'distortion' but the effects of rectilinear distortion and fisheye distortion are rather different. Which view gives the more accurate result?

I'd stay with the fish, and wouldn't be shooting one if I didn't want some type of distortion to begin with I'd think. Of course, it's going to depend on your subject too. Would be good to see this on other subjects tho'.

I like the fisheye too based on your grandson.

We often asks the question "Which view gives the more accurate result?" when
the better question to ask ourselves for each image is "Which view communicates
better?" And when we ask that question, we'll find that some of our images
communicate better with distortion corrected, and other images commuicate
better when distortion is emphasized. And that's when we discover that only
in some instances is distortion a hindrence because in other cases, that same
characteristic of distortion is actuallly a creative asset. So rather than
asking "Which view gives the more accurate result?", the better question to
be asking ourselves is "Which view communicates better?"

Based on the subject and not on the window or room I like the fisheye version best. Your grandson's head is odd shaped in the corrected version.
