Dayflower - Commelina communis

Growing 'Volunteer' in my perennial bed is this pretty little flower. The flower emerges from a 'pod' (a bit under 2 cm - see detail, right) and retracted when it started to rain. The plant is almost half a meter tall with several upright branches coming from the crown or very low on the larger branches. This "grass" is a native of Asia now found in the Eastern US.
