18. Diffused light also worked best for this Byzantine cup shaped coin of Alexius III that resisted good results with standard, directional lighting. My general practice is to shoot all new acquisitions in standard directional lighting and to try the special techniques when the first photos failed. Flat coins are easier to shoot with predictable results.
