4/7/08- Puppet Masters

June 1971. I'm 22 and have my entire life ahead of me.
After getting out of the Army, and getting through the early,
untimely death of my mother, I moved in with my step brother, Rick.
Anaheim, California.
He was an entertainer and used puppets to entertain.
He needed a partner.
I was available. 22, nothing else going on in my life.
We teamed up and embarked on a career in puppeteering.
This was the 8X10 B/W Glossy I took for our promotional benefit.
It was taken using the Nikkormat F5 that I had purchased in Akehabra, Tokyo, Japan.
By the way, we never performed in front of an audience. Not even once.
Rick is now 63 and an architect. I'm 59 and a hospice social worker.
Go figure.
I've always liked this photo. Tons of possibilities here. Oh well.

Wonderful photo!!! And even more wonderful story to go with it. There is such joy and fancy in youth. Underneath maturity & your present careers, Rick and you are really still the same people you were when this photo was shot. You also have a lot of life and new experiences - or a return to some old ones - ahead of you. It's never too late to live your dreams.

Great shot, great story! As Dan said, maybe its time to de-mothball the puppets...

Las Vegas wants you for two shows a night.
Get those puppets out of storage!

You enjoyed the instant, and the joy is really communicative!

"Oh well" - the saddest two word sentence in the English language - but you still have your entire life in front of you - this is a terrific stand alone photo but the story and the photo together conjure up a whole movie about choices in my minds eye and ear - maybe you two could get together and do a 30 second puppet skit and put it on You-Tube - I'll be the first hit!

This is fantastic and priceless! What a shame an audience never saw this...maybe, Gary is right!

What a fascinating story! You are lucky, indeed, to still have this photo. Those puppets look pretty good you know. And one more thing -- it's not too late. There's still a need for puppeteers.
