Message from Doug Young
Welcome to my modest efforts.
I am an American retiree living in deep south Texas. My wife and I recently lived in the city of Huê, Việt Nam, where we taught English at the university. You see, we have a special link to Việt Nam because we met there in 1969. Yes - that's right - we were there during the war. My wife was an Army nurse, and I was an Infantry officer. We enjoyed the sights and sounds of this beautiful country, and the war is in the distant past. However, if you are curious to know more, please visit the site I developed for the company I commanded at www.tallcomanche.org
I also enjoy blogging - please visit me at www.virtual-doug.com
Now I am on a new adventure - learning to be retired. Now that I can decide what I want to do each day, I have chosen to do some freelance work for the local weekly newspaper and to care for my mother who has Alzheimer's.
I have no desire to be a full time professional photographer, but I do aspire to becoming a better amateur and part-time freelancer. I shoot with a Canon 1D Mk III and a Canon 30D, a decent selection of lenses, plus a tripod, flash, and other doodads. You will also see some of my wife's shots using her Canon S410 P&S on these pages.
Enjoy!
