My wife bought a new 2009 Subaru Forester in Seattle on October 3rd, 2008. I flew south to pick the car up and drive it home to Alaska. I crossed over North Cascade Pass in Washington because I had never driven that route. It was well worth seeing and I really enjoyed the diversity of habitat from the west to east! These are my photos as I worked my way north to and up the Alaska Highway.

After I got the new car home (back to our temperate rainforest) we discovered a major leak that was leaving up to a quart of water in the car overnight when it rained hard. Our local Subaru dealer said they couldn't even look at it for 2 months (or so). After calls to the Subaru company and to the owner of our local dealer, they agreed to take it. Two weeks went by without any word. A call to them got a very abrupt reply that they didn't have time to look at it. We drove over to see where our car was and found it sitting outside in the rain. It looked like a terrarium inside, there was so much water fogging and running down all the windows. We have had 2.65 inches of rain since we dropped it off.

Almost a month later we finally got a call from our local dealer that the Subaru factory failed to install a seal somewhere in the car. That was why the car was leaking. A new seal has been ordered then installed.

This fall when the rainy season started in earnest again, the car was still leaking. It has been at the Subaru dealer for three weeks now (Sept 30, 2009) and no word from the dealer other than they are having trouble finding the leak...
