The green covered cenotaph was that of Saladin, until the white one next to it was installed and took over its funtion. The latter was provided by Abd al-Hamid in 1878. Restoration of the chamber was funded by by the German Kaiser as a tribute to Sultan Abd al-Hamid II. One of some pictures of the mausoleum with the tomb of Saladin.

Tomb of Sultan Salahuddin in the madrasa on the grounds of the Damascus citadel. It's the green one. The white one is a gift from King Willhelm of Prussia.
