I have put important subjects in galleries of their own, so the Damascus Umayyad Mosque is in a gallery of its own. Copyright for these pictures of Syria: Dick Osseman. Commercial use: mail me - see profile. Other: mention my name, let me know. As I have to pay for the upkeep of my sites myself I show pictures in a decent, but not extreme, resolution. I am publishing many of them in original size on Wikimedia Commons, though there they mix with those from other photographers, unless you know how to filter (I do not know myself much about that). I still claim copyright for those larger sizes, see my instructions in my profile.

When opening a gallery you may find a "Map" link in the right hand corner, clicking it (or Ctrl-clicking) will show on a satellite view where most pictures of that gallery were taken. Here is an example for the whole country. Also "View map" under a picture lets you view the location of the picture. Sometimes I grouped a bunch of pictures on one spot, because I did not manage to pinpoint more precisely. Starting September 2009 I use a GPS on my camera, so later pictures can be located with a few meters leeway. But as I took thousands of pictures, that are all shown finding a particular spot may take some time.
