Jerash

Jerash is an ancient site, the earliest traces of human existence date from the 6th millennium BC. The most important sight for tourists though is a huge Roman city, most of it dating from after the middle of the 1st century AD. I will add captions later, but you can detect several impressive gates, a hippodrome, two theatres, two large temples (and smaller ones also), many churches with often fine mosaic floors, and wonderful "lanes" with an astounding number of columns in a variety of sizes. Oh, and there is a nymphaeum, and a macellum, and .... I end with a few shots of the countryside, which is nice.

Map view will enable you to locate many spots. I will rearrange pictures later, and may add some coordinates.
