Romans mosaics used to be exhibited in the Archaeological Museum. They were moved to this new museum in 2011. The improvements are considerable, with some exceptions. Most are in better view, and more evenly, lit. Though on some an array of led spotlights (sometimes, it seemed, of different colour in one array) show a spotty pattern of light, which was more pronounced on a picture than to my eyes. Some mosaics are shown in what seems to be their original setting, with some brickwork, pillars and frescoes. There is an improved sense of space. The building open to the public on my 2011 visit is connected by a bridge to another, slightly smaller one. I can only speculate what may be in there, and hope to see that sometime. Note I organized a lot of mosaics as separate galleries, the advantage is pictures are better organized. I'm still working on that also.

I find colour correcting pictures of mosaics hell. The basic colour of background tesserae varies considerably, so one cannot use that as a point of reference. I have used several methods over the years that give decent results, but one should not be surprised to see differences between pictures from even one mosaic, in particular if I have mixed them with older shots. In a few cases I show both an uncorrected picture and a corrected version.
