In September 2011 I only made two hikes on Ak Tepe. One (this one) ascending at what’s indicated as “Panoramic Viewpoint” shortly before the Ortahisar dolmuş-stop coming from Ürgüp, then walking the length of the Ak Tepe going north, and getting off at some point where Ürgüp is pretty near, then returning there by foot. Those are the pictures I show in this sub-gallery of Ak Tepe walks.

The descent is pretty steep, don’t try it unless you are sure-footed and / or know the terrain. For the rest it’s a joy. Exceptionally I ran into fellow-visitors, a group of three horsemen, well, two men, one woman. Usually you meet no one up there.

The other walk is from the same Panoramic viewpoint, but turning into what’s called the Red Valley (or was it Rose Valley, I’m not good at remembering touristic labels), criss-crossing it and some other valleys, into Çavuşın, and at that village ascending Ak Tepe again to a point where you can walk along its lower edge, a rather difficult terrain again, but with wonderful sights. That walk took me back to the “Panoramic Viewpoint”.
