Research regarding Kiliç Arslan is going on at this spot, or rather, a restoration of his palace is under way. I am not very impressed with Turkish restorations in general, they leave the “restored”spots looking brand new for ages. Suggestive pictures of the result one could see confirmed my suspicion. On the other hand, the few remains under a concrete dome are pretty ugly. From the Wikipedia: “Kilij Arslan (Arabic: قلج أرسلان, Qilij Arslān; Turkish: I. Kılıç Arslan) was the Seljuk Sultan of Rûm from 1092 until his death in 1107. He ruled the Sultanate during the time of the First Crusade and thus faced the brunt of the entire attack.”
