I went to Polatlı because it would be close to Gordion, which I wanted to visit for the first time, and Sivrihisar, which I wanted to return to. For that it seemed closer than Eskişehir, which I earlier used as a place of departure. I could not find any other reasons, but am glad that I went there, because after a few days in hectic Ankara this was a pleasant, if somewhat sleepy, town. I liked it here and would not mind staying here again of a night or two. Photography-wise I do not feel there are many more things to see, except for the nearby monuments of the War of Independence, which I saw from a distance but did not feel drawn to. The fast train to Istanbul took me on to Eskişehir after my stay, and is quite comfortable and indeed (rather) fast.
