Misis is probably a delightful spot for a day into the country. I happened to get there on a day in December 2010 when the rain poured down. The main attraction, the bridge, dating to the mid-fourth century AD, after several restorations, the latest obviously very recently, was indeed impressive. I wanted to also visit the museum, famous for some mosaics, but without high boots I could not reach it. I intend to return some other day, and show more than I can now. The village at the bridge is called Yakpinar.
The town has a tumulus from 6000 BC, and was known as Mopsuestia (Greek Μοψουεστία Mopsou(h)estia), later Mamistra. At one point it had 150.000 (one source) or 200.000 inhabitants (other source).
