On the grounds of the Sultanahmet Vocational High School (a few hundred meters west of the Hippodrome square) there is a historical building, the Kiliçhane. This was a place where swords (kiliç) were produced. Its real name is Dımışkıhane, it was started in 1454. It had several functions after swords were no longer produced here, and now houses the Republic Education Museum of Istanbul. The museum was closed, so there was not much to see. The view from the school grounds is enviable.
